At the Party

Several times during the party
I’d look across at you
Feel your laughter, and admire
The way you sat – crossed legs, slender ankles
The way you moved your fine-boned, tender hands
The smile in your eyes – sparkling, loving
The way you touched your hair – exquisite!

And then everyone else in the room would
Fade into silently-laughing, moving silhouettes
While I pondered how
Your lips would taste on mine
