El Diablo, Tailor of White Curtains

my eyes closed, and then
after minutes, or maybe hours
from deep within my silent mind
from behind gossamer, silken curtains
the colour of fallen snow…
faded by the years
she reappeared
and her heavenly gaze
caressed my weary soul
and her velvet embrace
wrapped me in anticipation
and she drew me towards her
and we joined, delightfully, once again

my eyes opened, and alone
upon my empty bed
within my jail of sorrow
staring blankly at the ceiling
I silently pleaded with
El Diablo, tailor of white curtains
when would he
stop jabbing my heart with needles?
when would he
release me from this torment?
when would he
finally let me go?
